Perla began with a move.

We’re a couple of Aussies who moved from Australia to London, and not long after arriving, something strange started happening to our hair.

It felt drier. Duller. Harder to manage.
Colour faded faster. Shine disappeared.
We kept asking ourselves:

Why does my hair suddenly feel so different?
Is it the weather? The products? The stress of moving countries?

No matter what we tried, our hair never quite felt clean or healthy again.

Then we started talking to people.

Friends who had also moved to London told us the exact same thing had happened to them. Even people who had lived here for years would say things like, “London water ruins your hair.”

That’s when we discovered the real culprit: hard water.

London’s water contains high levels of minerals like calcium and magnesium. Over time, these minerals build up on the hair, leaving it coated, dry, and lifeless. Most shampoos remove oil and dirt, but they aren’t designed to remove mineral buildup.

Once we understood the problem, we started looking for a solution.

But everything we found felt outdated, inconvenient, or harsh on hair. So we decided to try and create something better.

Working with chemists, we began developing a modern formula designed specifically to dissolve mineral buildup while keeping hair healthy. After many iterations, testing, and feedback, Perla was born.

Today, we make Perla right here in London. We pack the sachets ourselves and personally ship orders out to customers all around the UK.

Perla is still a small brand, and that’s something we’re proud of. Every order means a lot to us.

Because we started this for a simple reason: we wanted our hair to feel like itself again.
